Damage to steel, a challenge for construction
Mohammad Darvish: Relocating Steel Industries to the Coast Is a Resilience Strategy
- Relocating steel industries to the country's coastal lines is essential.
- This relocation is feasible provided environmental considerations are observed.
- Residents of southern cities will benefit from the presence of these industries.
- Reducing geographical concentration is a strategy for increasing resilience.
Mohammad Darvish, an environmental activist, stressed the vulnerability of steel industries in wartime conditions and underscored the necessity of relocating these industries to the country’s coastal lines in an interview with the ‘Behind the Wall’ programme of SAMA Media.
According to Darvish, relocating steel industries to the coastal lines, provided that environmental and other considerations are observed, not only causes no harm but will also benefit the residents of the southern cities.
He added that reducing the geographical concentration of these industries should be considered as one of the viable solutions for increasing the resilience of this supply chain.
