The 26th Tehran International Building Industry Exhibition concluded yesterday after four days of programming. The event drew strong participation from business leaders, specialists, builders and visitors, establishing itself as one of the most significant annual gatherings for Iran’s construction sector.

Around 600 domestic and international companies assembled at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground from 18 to 21 August to showcase their latest products, technologies and achievements across various segments of the building industry. Spread over 20 halls and part of the outdoor exhibition space, the fair saw a robust presence of professionals from across the construction supply chain throughout the four days.

Strong Turnout and Product Diversity

From the opening hours, the large number of visitors and construction professionals created a palpable energy across the Tehran International Fairground. The halls welcomed builders, mass housing developers, engineers, architects, manufacturers, consultants, building services specialists and representatives of both domestic and foreign companies.

The diversity of participating companies and products meant the event went beyond a simple display of manufacturing capability, becoming a venue for negotiation, interaction, experience sharing and the formation of commercial and professional relationships. The scope of activities represented by exhibitors included building materials, equipment and machinery, doors and windows, elevators and escalators, mechanical and electrical installations, smart systems, safety equipment, architecture and innovative design, and knowledge-based products.

The Building Industry Under One Roof

A notable feature of this year’s exhibition was the presence of different segments of the construction industry value chain side by side – from material and equipment manufacturers to builders, engineers, architects and specialist service providers. This diversity turned the exhibition into an opportunity to observe a closer picture of the current state of the building industry; an industry that, alongside significant production and export capacity, faces challenges such as rising construction costs, market stagnation, financing difficulties, energy constraints and shifting demand patterns.

Under these circumstances, the Building Industry Exhibition served above all as a forum for dialogue about the future of the sector – a future that appears increasingly dependent on technology, industrialisation, new financing mechanisms and a departure from traditional construction models.

Official Visits and Emphasis on Export Development

During its run, the 26th International Building Industry Exhibition also hosted government officials and managers who underscored the importance of the construction industry to the national economy and its role in job creation, investment, production and economic development.

Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokesperson, visited the Tehran International Permanent Fairground to tour the 26th International Building Industry Exhibition. During her visit, she walked through various halls and the stands of domestic and international companies, engaging with construction industry professionals about production capacities, new technologies and the sector’s role in the country’s economic development.

In a message to the exhibition, Mohammad-Ali Dehghan Dehnavi, head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, highlighted the capacity of Iran’s building industry to expand export markets and described the Tehran Building Industry Exhibition as an opportunity to introduce Iranian products and technologies and to create a platform for cooperation with foreign companies.

Alongside the broad participation of domestic companies and professionals, the presence of foreign firms and a focus on regional markets were key themes of this year’s exhibition. With its capacity to produce building materials and equipment and its access to regional markets, Iran possesses considerable potential for export development. Markets such as Iraq, Afghanistan and neighbouring countries can serve as destinations for some Iranian building products, although realising this potential requires removing structural obstacles and fostering greater coordination between government, the private sector and exporters.

‘The Map Has Changed’: Sama Studio on the Ground for the Building Industry

Alongside the presence of companies and construction professionals, Sama Studio also had an active and distinctive presence at the 26th International Building Industry Exhibition. In collaboration with the Mass Builders Association, Sama Studio hosted the ‘The Map Has Changed’ series of expert discussions throughout the four days of the fair – a programme that sought to examine the current issues and concerns facing the industry.
