A shift in approach in Iran's construction sector

Ghorbani Holding CEO: We Build Homes to Live In, Not Just to Sell

Key points
  • Ghorbani Holding shifts approach from building for sale to building for quality of life
  • Design of common areas and micro-spaces to reduce residents' need to leave the building
  • Emphasis on using Iranian materials and supporting domestic manufacturers
  • Project quality criterion is residents' pride in their place of residence

According to SAMA, Amirhossein Ghorbani, CEO of Ghorbani Resistance Construction Holding (a major Iranian construction and development firm), highlighted the changing conditions of the construction industry in the post-war era and stressed the need to rethink liquidity management and operational approaches. He said: “The construction industry has found new conditions and requirements after the war, and we must restore this industry’s pride and move it forward through liquidity management and a review of our methods.”

Shifting Focus from Sales to Quality of Life

The housing sector figure emphasized his company’s changed perspective on construction: “Our outlook has changed; we don’t build homes just to sell them. We build homes that are worthy of the people of Iran, and that we ourselves would be satisfied to live in.” He added: “We strive to work with the best quality and the highest possible level of amenities.”

Defining Efficient Common Areas and Micro-Spaces in Projects

Ghorbani announced plans to design common areas and micro-spaces within projects that reduce residents’ need to leave the building. According to him, these spaces are defined so that residents can carry out part of their daily tasks and activities within the same building.

Supporting Iranian Production and Materials

The CEO of Ghorbani Resistance Construction Holding, referring to the post-war conditions and the need to support domestic production, said: “We always try to use the best Iranian materials, and in this situation, we seek help from Iranian manufacturers and cooperate with them to make the construction industry proud and to be pioneers in it.”

Residents’ Pride in Their Place of Residence

He further expressed his criterion for project quality: “We try to build a building that when someone enters it and gives its address, they proudly say they live there. We try not to hold back anything for the owners and residents, and we work with the best materials to provide the best possible living conditions in those homes.” Ghorbani concluded: “We don’t look at a home as a mere box; we look at it in a way that we ourselves could live in it.”
